Search Engine Optimization or SEO is the process of
using various on-page and off-page design strategies to improve your ranking in the Search Engines' results pages.
The aim for any business is, of course, to get to the first page of the search results and as high up in position
as possible. The reason for doing so is obvious - the higher your rank, the greater the chance of the link to your
website being clicked by the searcher thus increasing the traffic to your website. Another reason is the fact that
84% of people who search on Search Engines never make it beyond page two of the search results.
While PPC is paid search, SEO is organic search, or search
that is not based on any payment to the Search Engines. PPC ads are called Sponsored Links and appear on the top
and right of Google's search pages. Organic search results appear on the left and are ranked based

your website to the search term, amongst others.

meta tags and even today, many still believe that this is all they need to do and continue using this practice
alone.

affect its ranking in the Search Engine's Results Pages (SERP). It is estimated that there are several hundred
criteria that a Search Engine take into consideration in ranking a site.
